In memory of Dr Neil Street 13.11.54 - 21.09.20

By Neil Street's Family

"Beanie and Bindi" from Laura Matthews & the Street family

In memory of Dr Neil Street

Dr Neil Street AM FANZCA was an inspirational anaesthetist who touched the lives of many as a clinician, teacher, mentor, colleague and friend. Among his many roles, he set up and ran the Malignant Hyperthermia Unit for nearly twenty years. He did the vast majority of this work in his own time and without additional resources.  The unit is now internationally recognised and provides services to both children and adults across multiple states in Australia.

This work was very close to Neil’s heart and provides a wonderful opportunity to honour his memory and celebrate his life. All donations received will go to the MH Unit to continue his legacy.

Thank you for your generosity.

---

Donations of $1200AUD or more before the 31st of December 2020 will be gifted a limited edition print of the painting "Beanie and Bindi" from Laura Matthews & the Street family.

What a great man. What a huge loss. He had an affable 'everyman' approachability, a gift for putting people at ease, and a rare humility for someone who was in fact a giant! He enjoyed the company of others, enjoyed a laugh, a drink, a story. He gave his time, generously. He wasn't the type to demand respect but he certainly commanded it through his words and deeds. Vale Neil, you bloody legend!

Neil was easily one of the best anaesthetists I have worked with. The depth and breadth of his knowledge and skills were fantastic and his generosity in sharing this with all who worked alongside him made it to pleasure to work with him. He will be greatly missed.

Neil and his family took me in like I was one of their own. I'll be forever grateful for the chats and jokes he shared with me, and for being the positive father-figure role model I needed during my angsty teenage years. I hope I can bring the same levels of dry-wit, sarcasm and most importantly love, to my house as he did to his.
